They Eat Apples in India too!

This an easy recipe to follow and a great way to finish of a cold night.

Ingredients

  • apple mix
  • 6 medium size Granny Smith apples
  • ½ cup caster sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • crumble topping
  • 1½ cup plain flour
  • ½ cup caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup or Uncle Tobys Traditional Oats
  • 200g butter, melted

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C
  2. Peel and core apples into 2cm diced chunks and place in bowl
  3. Add cinnamon, caster sugar and lemon to apples
  4. Mix and then transfer to an oven proof dish (1.5 litre capacity)

To make the crumble topping, place the flour, oats, sugar and cinnamon in a large bowl and mix to combine. Add the melted butter and mix again.
Spoon the crumble mixture over the top of the apple and place the dish on a large baking tray. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the crumble is golden and the apples are soft and stewed.
This recipe is from the Donna Hay files, it serves six people, and of course, you must serve it with vanilla ice cream!
