Sweet Green Chutney

Chutney - A delicious accompaniment

The word chutney comes from the East of India ‘chatni’ which means, strongly spiced. Chutneys are traditionally served with with Indian food and usually have a sweet and tart flavour and combined with spice to compliment the taste of your meal. I just love this sweet green chutney recipe and it is so easy to make. Thought I would share.

PREP TIME: 10 mins
TOTAL TIME: 10 mins

Sweet mild chutney made from coriander and mint

SERVES: 3-4

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup coriander leaves
  • ¼ cup mint leaves
  • 1 green chili
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • ½ tbsp lemon juice
  • ¼ red onion
  • 1 tsp sugar 
  • pinch of pepper (optional)


Instructions

Rinse the coriander leaves and the mint leaves well in water.
chop the green chilli and the garlic roughly.
add all the ingredients in a blender with some water.
the quantity of water can be adjusted as per your liking. But don’t make the chutney too thin.
blend everything well till smooth.
serve this green chutney in a ramekin and serve with any Curry Traders dish.
it stays well in the fridge for 4-5 days.
